ADN Basic
The ADN is an international treaty that sets out the rules and regulations for the safe transport of dangerous goods by inland waterways such as rivers and canals. Transafe Academy offers several ADN courses, including ADN Basic.

ADN Course Basic
The ADN Basic course is certified by CCV and concludes with an exam at CCV (available at multiple locations in the Netherlands).
The ADN certificate confirms participation and successful completion of the exam covering special requirements for the carriage of dangerous goods by vessel. Validity: 5 years.
Subjects include:

- Measuring techniques and sampling

- Loading, unloading and carriage
- Documentation
- Hazards and precautions
- Practical exercises
- Cargo tanks and adjacent spaces
- Stability
If you attend the ADN Basic course, you will receive the ADN legislation set 2025–2026. These books are yours to keep and may also be used during the exam. Throughout the course, you must be able to present a valid identity document. Without a valid ID, participation is not possible.

Preparation for the course ADN Basic
We provide all participants with free access to an online learning environment. This includes instructional videos explaining ADN, an ADN exam trainer, legislation, and the course handbook.
The online learning environment will be made available digitally via a link after registration. The course handbook serves as a reference guide and a deeper exploration of the course material. During the lessons, this material will be presented through slides.

This is how cancelling or rescheduling works
You can cancel or reschedule your registration free of charge up to 30 days before the course starts. For cancellations or rescheduling between 30 and 7 days before the course, 50% of the course fee will be charged. Within 7 days before the course, cancellations or rescheduling will not be refunded.
If a CBR exam has been reserved, these costs will be charged in case of cancellation or rescheduling and are non-refundable.
If you are unable to attend one or more course days due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, these days must be made up in a subsequent course to meet CCV requirements. A fee of € 150 per day will apply for rescheduling missed course days.

What should I bring to the course?
Only a valid ID is required.
Is lunch included?
Yes, this courses includes lunch. Coffee, tea and water are available throughout the day.
Where does the exam take place and do I need to arrange it myself?
The exam will be held at a CBR location of your choice. Date and location reservations are made through Transafe; please contact us by phone.
Please note: the exam cannot be held directly on the last day of the course, but at least one day after.
How many times can I retake the exam?
You can take the exam a maximum of three times. If the result is still insufficient, you must retake the entire course. All attempts must be made within six months of completing the course. The cost of a retake can be found by clicking the button below.
I passed the exam, what’s next?
Congratulations on passing your exam! To receive your official ADN certificate, you still need to submit an application to the CBR. This requires the correct form and, if applicable, additional documents. After approval and payment, you will receive your certificate within a few weeks.
Are the ADN books included in the course?
Yes, on the first day of the course, you will receive the current version of the ADN. These books are yours to keep and will also be used during the CBR exam.
What if I’m sick or miss a day?
To take the ADN exam, all course days must be attended. If you are sick or absent, always contact us by phone. Together we’ll find a suitable solution to catch up on missed days. A fee of €150 per day applies for rescheduling.
Can I cancel or reschedule the course?
