The nautical crew of Titan LNG, provided by operator AMS, will follow an extensive, tailor-made training program.
In preparation for Titan’s first Ship-to-Ship LNG bunkering operations later this year, Titan LNG and Transafe have signed an exclusive, long-term safety training contract for LNG bunkering. The FlexFueler, Titan’s LNG bunkering pontoon currently under construction, will be operational by the end of the year.
Ronald van Selm, COO of Titan LNG: “Safety is our top priority in everything we do at Titan LNG. To ensure that our nautical crew remains fully aware of the importance of safety, we have chosen Transafe as our exclusive partner for this comprehensive LNG safety training program – not only for our first pontoon but also for our future bunkering vessels.”
Cristiaan Heuvelman, Managing Director of Transafe: “The importance of LNG as a marine fuel is growing rapidly. We are training more and more crews to work safely with LNG as a clean fuel. It fits our strategy to expand our training modules for LNG bunker suppliers. Titan is the first LNG supplier to commit to this high-quality training program, demonstrating their dedication to safety.”
The training includes risk scenario simulations at Simwave’s new training center and additional practical training at the renowned Falck LNG training center in Rotterdam. Igor Jansen, Director of AMS – the operator of the FlexFueler and provider of the crew – adds: “With this additional LNG-specific program, we will set the standard for safe LNG bunkering in the ARA region. All crew members will receive a seven-day training program that complies with the requirements of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH).”
