Our Loading Master Training gives participants the knowledge and tools to fulfil that responsibility effectively. This one-day training has been developed for everyone involved in the loading and discharging of seagoing vessels and directly aligns with the requirements of port regulations and ISGOTT 6, the leading guideline and checklist for safe tanker and terminal operations.

What does the role of Loading Master involve?

A Loading Master does more than supervise. The role encompasses responsibility for safety, communication, documentation and risk management in every transfer operation. In practice, misunderstandings between ship and shore, unclear agreements and inadequate documentation can have serious consequences — both operationally and legally.

Training content

The training covers the following topics:

• Roles, duties and responsibilities of the Loading Master
• ISGOTT 6: structure and application as the international standard for safe tanker operations
• The ISGOTT Ship/Shore Safety Checklist and correct completion
• Vessel documentation such as NOR, LOP and B/L
• Tanker installations and safety systems, including the Inert Gas System (IGS)
• Communication with the Master and/or Chief Officer
• Cargo transfer, claims and liability
• Risks of signing documents and the consequences of 'for receipt only'

The training uses practical case studies, interactive discussions and recognisable situations from day-to-day operations.
